Additional Information: Came from Mexico to be used as a breeding plant. The name comes from Sanchez Colin. Sometimes used as a subject. Most of the varieties grown in California fall into the “Guatemalan” or “Mexican” group (or a hybrid of the two) while Florida grows mostly “West Indian”. This is done by weight as a sample of the ripe fruit is taken. First the fruit is weighed, cut open and the seed removed.
