A seedling on Balboa Island, California was capable of starting this new species. Tree shape, tall and thin. Taste worthy of being called good! Very good taste, smooth and buttery with lots of flavor. Fruits are dark black with a well centered stem. Nice fruits often look shiny and unripe when they are ripe and ready to be picked. Most of the varieties grown in California fall into the “Guatemalan” or “Mexican” group (or a hybrid of the two) while Florida grows mostly “West Indian”.
